In May 2025, renowned professors from Sweden and Brazil visited Tokai Hit's 4D-Culture Lab. This visit was a valuable opportunity to deepen international research exchange and was made possible by the efforts of Professor Eiji Kobayashi.
Visitors from Sweden
From Sweden, we welcomed Professor Mihai Oltean, M.D., Ph.D., FACS, a surgeon conducting advanced research on organ and intestinal preservation, and Dr. Mats Hellström, MSc, PhD, a lab manager engaged in uterine bioengineering. Their expertise brought fresh perspectives and inspiration to our research.
Visitor from Brazil
From Brazil, we were honored to host Professor Flávio Henrique Ferreira Galvão, a passionate researcher in tissue engineering and its clinical applications in Brazil. His practical insights were highly beneficial to our research activities.
Experience at Mitsui Link Lab
The professors also toured other companies located within the Mitsui Link Lab, where the TOKAI HIT 4D-Culture Lab is based. They explored various research facilities and initiatives. In the lounge and shared spaces, lively discussions transcended corporate and national boundaries, making for a truly meaningful exchange.
Background of the Visit and Participation in ISEM2025
This visit coincided with the professors’ participation in the International Society for Experimental Microsurgery (ISEM2025), held in Kanazawa. ISEM is a global academic conference in the field of experimental surgery, and the professors came to Japan to present and engage at this event.
Looking Ahead
This visit has further expanded our international research network, and we anticipate new developments in the 4D-Culture Lab’s research activities. We hope to continue deepening collaborations with these professors and other organizations, establishing the 4D-Culture Lab as an international hub for researchers.
Acknowledgements
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the professors from Sweden and Brazil for visiting us. We are also deeply grateful to Professor Eiji Kobayashi for organizing and coordinating this invaluable opportunity.
